I like Microbelift BMC more than mosquito dunks, cheaper and I can just drop 3-4x as many drops as you're supposed to.....just wastes the gnats lol x'D

Nice! How often do you have to use it? Is it a add to nutes & mix in type product?

I crumble & mix dunks into my new bails when I hydrate them & add just a little to the top & bottom of each pot @ transplant. Havent had em since I started doing that.

I am going to continue use of the Microbelift plus i am going to start using the bits like @Dbear is describing at the bottom of the pot plus the top of the media at transplant. I have tried letting the media dry out more but i use 3 gallon pots and irrigate once a day. Can not really skip a day of irrigation as the coco will get to dry. I am hopeful this new program will work as i am tired of dealing with those critters.

I just drop it into ph'd water and let it sit for 24 hours - you're supposed to do that with the dunks as well (unless top dressing with them) so that the BTI has time to 'activate' or whatever, as I've read around.

I really hate gnats, I've had them on multiple occasions get inside my clone dome, and lay eggs in the root cubes.....so when I see clones not doing so hot I tear open the cube...to find like bullet hole riddled through the now hollow stem...with a little gnat larvae wiggling out of one of them.

I have not been giving mine a 24 hr period after mixing as i did not see that anywhere in the directions. I am not saying it is not so but i just reread the instructions and could not find that info. I just want to make sure i am mixing correctly.

Nice! Ive always had that mindset about letting the dunks kind of "activate" like you said. Figure in a wet medium they soak it up & then the bt spread throughout chasing their own ideal environment in the medium. Idk if they really work like that but in my mental image that's how it's going down lol.

Not the BMC exclusively - BTI in general. I've read that for many years in multiple locations, a quick google search on that would prob better point you in the right direction than I could at this point to be honest >< haha. So I don't know the science but it's been a common topic elsewhere!

I am going to try a combination of the BMC liquid and Mosquito bits in the top and bottom of the media. I also have plenty of yellow sticky paper around the grow area as well. Determined to lick these Gnats.

One other trick I've heard (aside from the use of Diatomaceous Earth layer on the top of pots) to get rid of a lot of the larvae quickly is to cut up a few potatoes into small chunks and drop them on the top of pots.

For whatever reason supposedly the larvae love potatoes and will seek them out and cover the pieces. You're supposed to then discard those chunks into a bag and throw away, so you get rid of a nice chunk right out of the early stage, while continuing treatment that you normally perform.

I haven't tried this since I haven't had a big infestation of them in a long time, but if you have some extras lying around, worth a shot.

A neem oil soil drenched helped (although I have an older edition of the Marijuana Garden saver which does not advise multiple applications every 5-10 days) but I wanted to assist matters with some DE. I rushed the process and purchased non-food-grade DE. Thankfully I applied the DE over some newly top dressed EWC and could therefore remove most of it the following morning.

Since it was impossible to completely remove 100% of the DE, am I in any sort of trouble with this grow??

Anyway, off to get some food grade DE and do another neem oil drench...

Hey @skinny852 i am not sure it was any harm at all using the regular DE mixed in the soil or coco. I thought there was only one other grade of DE other than food and that would be garden, pool whatever the use. I am not that convinced of the effectiveness of it either . I have also been told it has to be dry to be effective. I am experiencing my first gnat free round in several cycles this current round. On my final transplant before flowering as mentioned above by another member. In the bottom of the pot i put approximately a inch or two of coco and then mixed in a couple of tbs of misquote bits i also mixed in the same amount of DE regular not food grade. I also duplicated that on the coco surface. Also be careful with the DE really hard on the lungs. The plants received a BMT treatment in with the irrigation once a week( mixed 24 hrs ahead of time) thru out most of the cycle. Always make sure to have plenty of yellow sticky traps around as well. Next round i will try without the DE to see but i do not think that is what made the difference.

These work pretty well. I've had an issue though. Some plants grew so fast, that they got stuck to the traps overnight lol. So I had to raise the traps. I've also been a dumbass and dropped the traps on them too makes for a funny looking plant in veg lol

This last round was the first time a did not have them in the coco itself. They are some sticky suckers . Rosin coming off the press is the only thing i can think of that is worse. I remember one of my first blobs i had a dab tool 2 toothpicks and something else i broke off and stuck into the blob. Wasn't so funny at the time though

Yea, I've extracted some stuff through butane pipe back in the days. Accidentally touched my cheek with blob hands. BIGGEST PIMPLE EVER for WEEKS. It was insane lol
