Nothing Fancy

I swear, I told myself not to look at UC threads. It's not in my budget yet. But, here I am. Looking. Being a hydro perv. What can I say, it looks like it'll just do it for me.

To my point, and forgive me if you've mentioned this in the previous 16 pages, what do you do to keep the root mass from clogging up the connecting pipes between sites?

I'm gonna be running a home-made dutch bucket system next round, and haven't quite addressed that issue. Figure could take a page from the big boys and apply it on a much smaller scale.

I’m a big hydro fan, trying coco for the first time. To be honest, I didn’t know it was hydro. ?
Anytime I saw a coco thread searching stuff, it was always a problem, so I allowed it wasn’t something I wanted to do.
WRONG, I’m diggin it now. I miss bubbling water a little.

There’s a few rdwc growers, our fearless leader, for one @spyralout might chime in?
I’ve never really had any root clog issues, may be a testament to my skills! )
I see those pictures of buckets jam packed, not mine.
A short veg, 8 gal. buckets and 2” pipe may help.
I can see smaller pipe maybe being an issue? I have screens on the end buckets.
I’ll be checking out your progress.

@coste
I run 1-1/2" pipe in 5 gal buckets, and haven't had root clog issues yet. No screens or anything. I have had the root mass kink the air stone line on one plant that was particularly vigorous. The entire bucket gets filled with roots. I don't see an advantage to having bigger buckets, as the root mass will just keep growing to fit the entire vessel, and when in a tent with limited head clearance, I don't need anything more than 5 gal. If I were to veg any longer than 3 weeks, the stretch would kill me.

If I were to build this system again, I would likely use 2" pipe, I like the idea of more water flow, but 1-1/2" seems to do just fine.

If you decide to run in a tent, try and have the epi bucket outside of the tent, it was so much better than having it in the tent, cuz I could do adjustments with the lights off.

Mornin’ Glory!
Pretty boring stuff, just watching and waiting.
I have to say, for a first run in coco and 1 gal pots, this has been a breeze.
Some got a little stretchy because I wasn't paying attention and didn’t think this was “real hydro”.
Sure the hell grows like it!

I started running these at lights out about 10 days ago, after the stretch.
Running them before that will make a stretchy mess, ask me how I know.

I woke up and realized I’m in my second coco grow.
I wasn’t intending really, but here we are.
I can’t get over how easy these are to set up.
Biggest issue I have in here is no drainout, that’s a toe stubber.
Hoping to move them when the big girls start finishing up.

There’s no rhyme or reason to my seed choices, I just grab stuff.
I have a few clones from the other run, Banana OGB044229C-A35A-4827-AF36-F4CD3FEDC632.jpegBE188F2E-6AEB-47CE-BCBC-134FED9912B9.jpegLVTKS1EDEA4BF3-A75E-4D93-A2CD-148486495536.jpeg97929FCE-2AC6-4A0F-8021-FCDB7CD990F6.jpeg

Killer line up man... I just had coco jog my memory a bit as well... forgot how fast plants grow in this medium, a few have become a bit top heavy lol

Fingers crossed that DBD is a girl for you... it's some great smoke

I'm still chasing it lol... got a cross with it and an OG but that's it so far... waffling on ordering a cutting and trying to BX it... you find anything?

No idea if he's looking to get rid of any, but Detgreenthumb or something like that, has a pack in a pic he posted the last couple days, in the RIU Bodhi thread. Apparently, he's the guy who found the cup winning Sunshine 4 (3) a few years ago. He's got a bunch of rare Bodhi, but like I say, no idea if he's getting rid of anything.

I saw that! Thought about messaging him but RIU frowns on trade discussion and I'm pretty sure they read people's PMs.

Struck out on the clones too... dude messaged me back saying he culled the mom a little while ago because no one was buying it

I started these on two a day feeding a couple days ago.
Most are taking it well, couple of clones still struggling.
After seeing the different growth rates and how rough the clones are going to be, I’m going to run these out to take clones.
