The Dark Alley Club - Sad, seedy loners welcome.

Veg tent is filling up again. Gelato 45 is next for the flower tent. Trying roots organic for a few of these as a change of pace... got alternating stems on most of the plants from the previous round so hopefully I'll start seeing sex soon...

Got some neat variegation on one of the Bad N Boujees

Also really excited about these TKNL5 x Sawtooth Skunks from Blu Channel. The stem rub is just rank, and you can already see where that Skunk got its name.... I know there's some pinnate phenos in this cross but it doesn't look like I found one. If these pan out I may have to drop the rest of the pack

Right on brother they look on track! They are ready to putting on some flowers. Solid structure too. I look forward to see how they finish out for you.

How are your temperatures?

I'm really happy with how the Kashmir male blended with these ladies. The offspring of every lady he dusted seems to be enhanced in positive ways...so far. However we'll have to wait for the final marker...the proof is in the smoke.

Thanks for doing your thing and giving these beans a shake. I'm stoked they are being handled by such quality farmers. Cheers! Cheech, pass that thing already...

Yeah, we're starting to see some bud action! I'm pretty hyped on these, love the structure, great stem rub so far and they've really handled my recent woes very well. You'll certainly be able to consider them stress tested after this run lol.

Temps have been crazy lately. I turned off the space heater, couldn't stomach the electric bill anymore. So it's been high 50s in the tent lights off, high 70s lights on. And that's with 700+ watts of CMH/LEDs mixed in there. I'm so sick of the cold.

On the note of Kokusho, and because I have an overall dearth of quality updates including frosty nugs at the moment....

I've been periodically sampling the nugs as they cure in the jars and have a few observations. #2 is still the star, hands down. Maybe my favorite terps/flavor of all time. Not for everyone certainly, and definitely against current trends but it just does it for me. Also it smacks! Great cerebral high!

#3 had great structure, great terps, great bag appeal.... but actually wound up being my least favorite smoke. It's kind of a muted chocolate gas flavor, which is nice, but not knock your socks off, and it's actually the least potent of the three.

#1 seemed like it was going to be the disappointment.... the yield was abysmal and the terps were very generic "sweet" weed while growing... but after some time in the jar it's really developed a nice complexity. But the big surprise is how hard she hits.... like, straight up mind melting, psychedelic sativa high... higher functions suffer while under the influence.... possibly the reason for the decapitated seedlings. I smoked a bone with my girl (who may actually smoke more than me...) and she immediately took the dog for a walk. She came back absolutely beaming... said she felt like she was bordering on tripping. This plant was a total curveball. I in no way saw this level of potency coming down the pipeline. Unfortunately, she may be the worst yielder I've ever had, giving less than 7g total. I've essentially already smoked it all, I have one tiny nug left.

This GG4 x Chocolate Diesel may be getting the axe. It's hasn't shown any sign of recovering from the reveg at all, and the pistils are all turning brown and receding all of a sudden... sucks cause it smells amazing... 20210310_214255.jpg20210308_221305.jpg

Unfortunately the ASS S1 are struggling as well.

Mass Super Skunk is stacking again but is just loaded with little reveg leaves... I may let her finish just for the hash bin.... she's rank but also sweet, like burnt rubber, garbage and Swedish fish

Chem Sister, Orion and the Vintage BB all seem to be back on track so it's definitely not a total loss.

Finally setup the Mars Hydro kit I "won" (they've emailed me several times to post reviews/journals with it and I've begun to wonder if I wasn't actually unusually lucky, but that they actually sent me this kit because I had previously reviewed a Spider Farmer light for them.... maybe I'm just paranoid)

Anywho... it's a cute little tent lol. And the kit came with everything you could possibly need. The fan they sent with it is way overkill though, and there's really no room in there for a carbon filter, so I still need to figure out the ventilation. I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with it. Thinking of keeping some bonsai moms in there or something.... I'm sure I'll figure something out lol

GG4 x CD made the decision for me and threw a bunch of anthers so down she came. I think the ASS S1 are going to follow suit, they're just a complete mess. The reveg basically reset the clock on them, it's like they're starting to flower all over again, but since there were already buds the new buds are growing all haphazardly. That's really bumming me out more than the GG4 x CD. They were so far along and it's gonna be a while before I can circle back on them.

The good news is the Gelato 45 backup is well established now so the mom will be heading into the flower tent soon. Just uppotted her into some Roots Organic soil since @GCG had sent her in soil.

Now if only I could get these damn WiFi and Alien OG cuts to root.....

Man, that's too bad, I was looking forward to seeing you grow those ones out (GG4 x CD, ASS S1). Hopefully the G45 changes the weather a bit for ya! And ? for roots. If you can't get the Aliens to root, I already have 3 rooted and just took some more clippings....so??

Dude, I appreciate that. I need to get cloning figured out one way or another or my breeding plans will just grind to a halt. But I'm making some big changes... picked up a basically brand new utility rack off Craigslist so I can fit more seedlings/clones/veggies, added a T12 to the situation which I think may help... my working theory is my clones aren't working because the lights been too intense... it's the only thing that's been consistent through all these cloning failures. I also have a tall humidity dome on the way and I'm going to try root riots instead of rapid rooters for a change of pace.... usually I try to change one variable at a time but I'm getting impatient lol

I just took a piece of foam board and straight up am blocking the clones from light . It's a killer for sure . They need very little

You bet brotha man! You've already scratched my back... Only fair for me to scratch your back...back!! I'm no clone expert but like Frim said, they need very little light at this delicate stage. They need warmth and moisture/humidity (and consistency) more than anything at that critical rooting stage. Nutes and lights need not apply in my opinion. I just do a tall dome and plug with either rapid rooters or root riots, whatever I have on hand, on top of a bed/layer of perlite. Plain water, or if handy, coconut and/or aloe is always beneficial. Also more times than not, I leave cuts in water (best to change daily, but I can at times get away with every other) until they start to bust a root, then plug em.

Then use a household cfl/led on top of the dome. Indirect light, even with such low power, works best for me. We all struggle from time to time, but you'll get it worked out I'm sure! If not, the offer always stands ?

I've seen one layer of paper towels laid over a dome to block light, worked good.
