The Dark Alley Club - Sad, seedy loners welcome.

Has anyone here smoked or grown Chem Sis before? Because this cut I got.... massive let down. This second run doesn't look any better than the first and the first was so bad I dumped the jar in the hash bin. I have a growmie growing out a couple cuts from her as well and he just told me the same thing. Worst looking plant in the tent. No frost, very little smell. Airy buds. Nothing like the other chems I've had.

Trying to figure out if this cut is just whack or if I just don't care for Chem Sis lol.
bummer! I'd be willing to bet its a bunk cut, or not even real, cause its been used by some highly regarded folk and they seem to stand by it. Was your source trustworthy?
It's fantastic man! I'm trying not to smoke it all too quickly. It's hard to describe the taste but spicy vanilla berries is about as close as I can get. I shared some with a couple people and they all loved it.
OH man, thanks! I'm probably gonna have to release er' sooner or later. That photo that won was just so damn beautiful!

Yeah, same person that I got the Mass Super Skunk from and that was legit. He actually said he loved the Chem Sis and it was the easier plant to grow but we've found the opposite to be true.

On an unrelated issue I've been reading a lot about epigenetics and now I'm wondering if the stress of transferring the cuts affected the plant in some way. People talk about genetic drift all the time but there's really no evidence to back that up, but there's more and more data that epigenomes can be passed on to subsequent generations. Epigenomes by the way are permanent changes to DNA expressions caused by environmental factors.

huh, so would that be like the way a pest resistance is formed?
I suggest bumping up the recommended dosage a bit if your spraying for soft bodied insects.

I use an ounce and a half in a 16 oz spray bottle to kill gnats.
how long do you find that stays good for? I had a problem with batches like that loosing effeciency. do you use it all quickly?

The first batch I bought was like that. I remember writing in my journal that I thought the gnats could of been developing resistance to it lol.

I’m on a newer bottle now, and I noticed the dosage instructions have changed. But I still need twice as much as recommended to reallly have an effect on gnats.

Ive found this to be pretty much standard on just about any gnat eradication I've tried. I used the dunks and then went to Microbe Lift BMC and always had to double up doses for eradication vs what is recommended (for what I believe is geared more towards prevention than eradication).

Well most of the seedlings seem to have made a full recovery and are picking up speed. I've been militant about the plant therapy applications. Dr Zymes showed up yesterday so that will be entering my IPM program now as well. Thinking I'll drop some more beans tomorrow to replace the lost stock. 20210515_101102.jpg

It's always nice to have an excuse to pop lol

So I was taking a nice long look at everyone when suddenly I noticed what looked like a seed on one of the Chick Magnet lowers.... quickly realized her lower nugs were loaded with beans...

As I mentioned the Apple Sundae had had a few sacs but the timing didn't seem right and there were no seeds in that plant itself so I started inspecting every plant again... Chick Magnet has a ton of burst nanners that are just really hard to see. Think she pollinated herself. So she's getting culled while I hope nobody else got hit too hard.

Problem running a perpetual with new genetics all the time, it's really hard to catch this stuff. I'm pretty bummed cause she looks and smells great otherwise.

On to happier news... sampled phenos 1 and 2 of the BT19 x KA5 from @Kind024 and they're both very good. Pheno one tastes just the way it smells... lemon and vanilla cleaner or air freshener with that slightly chemical lean to it. The high is uplifting but also calming.

Pheno 2 is world's apart. Still a tinge of the same lemon and vanilla, but also hash and a nuttiness that makes it very reminiscent of the cookies crosses I recently ran, like the Vanilla Commander and Hazelnut Cream. The stone on this one is much heavier. Head nodding, lay in the sun and you'll likely take a nap kinda high.

Number 3 needed another burping or two before it was sample ready so I'll report on that one soon.

Which, I should mention, I've kind of developed some uncommon habits for my harvest and cure and when I think a jar is ready to sample. I check jars daily when I first fill them but there's no set burping times or anything, it's just completely by gut feelings and my own whims lol. So I may decide a jar is ready to sample the first day, or a week later, or 3 weeks later... I couldn't even describe what makes me think a bud is ready to sample, I just pick it up, smell it, squeeze it, decide if it's good to go or not.

So if I'm ever like... jar number 3 isn't ready to test yet, and your like... why?

I don't actually know, it's just a feeling I have

Where did it come from... Is it the legit cut? I've heard of her. But never had any experience with...Maybe just hyped up, and/or not legit me thinking... No frost and airy buds with lil smell... Don't sound elite/sought after to me... But who am I??

Thanks GC, package landed?IMG_20210515_215332405.jpg
These look much mo better than the flimsy crap I bought previously ?

Where did it come from
A member of some other forums. Everything else that came from him seems to have been legit for both me and other people and he had some solid documentation of his grows so it should be legit... but obviously I have no way to truly verify it. That's part of why I was asking for other people's opinion. But we'll see how she finishes this time...

He might have got it second hand also. Who knows . But sorry to hear about that pupil cross . Had a similar thing w katsu Pupil. Bummer .

Well this stinks. I was going to post some actual pics tonight, but I got sidetracked finding more seeds on plants. Got the Gelato 45 and the Gooey Fighter's too. Doesn't seem to be too many but still, not thrilled. Wouldn't be as big a deal if it wasn't right after my light timer fiasco... that's a lot of subpar harvests in a row.

Luckily I grow too much in general so I'm not at risk of running low but still... I'm fairly annoyed at the moment.
