In Bloom
I think everyone goes through the cloning blues once and a while. I always had a fair success with getting cuts to root. Then out of nowhere my percentages went way down and the copies looked on the verge of death by the time root grew, if they grew. Keep plugging away brother. It will come together.
Consistent temperatures are important. If they are getting cold at night that could be part of it?
Fresh air is also important. We do need to keep the humidity up. But we also need to remove the domes a couple times a day to exchange the air.
Spraying plain water on the leaves will leach nutrients from them. Nutrients/energy needed to make roots. An aloe solution about all I usually spray on cuttings. Or a cannabis leaf tea will add some nutrients too. But that's a week later or right after a few roots are showing. I like to spray (underneath and on top) the aloe leaf solution the day after plugging them. That gives them time to perk up.
I agree with the masses about the light. Clones only have the energy they were cut with. They need to make roots with that energy. Too much light and they are spent before they get that chance. And I agree, aloe is a great foliar spray for clones. It has nutrients, growth hormones and the rooting hormone salicylic acid...I think it's more synergistic than anything but that's just me. I use fresh aloe leaf to plug the stem in before plugging it. The stem is also scraped a little before dipping in the aloe leaf.
I use a dome for humidity and a piece of foam on the floor to keep the plugs from getting cold. Sometimes I drape a couple translucent garbage bags over the dome if I can't get them far enough from the light. I try keep the trays/domes about 6'+ away from the T5s.
I have very good results with this method. I've been using Viagrow organic plugs with good results too.
Much of this stuff was mentioned by others. It's cool to see the primer in everyone's methodology. Then you know its working.
Best of fortune for your cloning journey bro!
