The Dark Alley Club - Sad, seedy loners welcome.

I think everyone goes through the cloning blues once and a while. I always had a fair success with getting cuts to root. Then out of nowhere my percentages went way down and the copies looked on the verge of death by the time root grew, if they grew. Keep plugging away brother. It will come together.

Consistent temperatures are important. If they are getting cold at night that could be part of it?

Fresh air is also important. We do need to keep the humidity up. But we also need to remove the domes a couple times a day to exchange the air.

Spraying plain water on the leaves will leach nutrients from them. Nutrients/energy needed to make roots. An aloe solution about all I usually spray on cuttings. Or a cannabis leaf tea will add some nutrients too. But that's a week later or right after a few roots are showing. I like to spray (underneath and on top) the aloe leaf solution the day after plugging them. That gives them time to perk up.

I agree with the masses about the light. Clones only have the energy they were cut with. They need to make roots with that energy. Too much light and they are spent before they get that chance. And I agree, aloe is a great foliar spray for clones. It has nutrients, growth hormones and the rooting hormone salicylic acid...I think it's more synergistic than anything but that's just me. I use fresh aloe leaf to plug the stem in before plugging it. The stem is also scraped a little before dipping in the aloe leaf.

I use a dome for humidity and a piece of foam on the floor to keep the plugs from getting cold. Sometimes I drape a couple translucent garbage bags over the dome if I can't get them far enough from the light. I try keep the trays/domes about 6'+ away from the T5s.

I have very good results with this method. I've been using Viagrow organic plugs with good results too.

Much of this stuff was mentioned by others. It's cool to see the primer in everyone's methodology. Then you know its working.

Best of fortune for your cloning journey bro!

Damn, appreciate all the insight everyone! That was more informative than hours of internet research lol. I think you guys have all confirmed that too much light has been a factor. My clones have been with my seedlings under a 4 tube HO T5 setup and that's definitely too much. Temps are also a consideration. I should probably get another heat mat at some point. And I grow aloe so no excuse not to give that a try!

Ya, too much light and too cold temps will definitely bring cuttings/clones to a screeching hault. I believe that I would have been unsuccessful in rooting the Alien and the Cherry Pie had I not brought out my heat mat...I actually haven't used it in a pretty long time honestly, but they really need that lil extra boost of warmth to kick the rooting into gear. I grow and use aloe too, but it can be a lil messy at times getting the gel out. So, I've also been using some freeze dried whole leaf powder that I picked up for a good price...a lot cleaner and easier to work with imo. Def worth looking into if you haven't already.

BT19 x KA5 are praying hard... nice, happy girls so far! Great stem rub too. It's interesting, the two taller ones have a gassy lemon scent, but the slightly shorter one, which other than height has a nearly identical structure, has a way funkier earthy, vanilla tobacco thing still, which I just love and hope carries through to the end product

Which made room for the Gelato 45 though so that's flowering now...

Its really weird not having any plants to trim. The perpetual has been spitting out finished product every other week for months now. Nothing in there is even close at the moment... I don't know what to do with myself...

Maybe I should plant some more seeds.... the garden is seriously lacking in Schwaggy and Eso gear right now, and I should probably try these ASS S1 again

Pulled the trigger on cutting down the ASS S1. I've got them hanging right now but it's really immature. Anyone ever made hash from immature buds before? Even though they're a mess it seems so wasteful to just toss them
I would suggest drying out a nug and smoking it. If it is racey and head-achey like early stuff often is, toss it. If it turns out you like the effect, make hash or go with edibles per @Idlewilder's suggestion.

I look at cloning as a test of the environment. No dome, no heat mat, just a low light corner and some horemones (iba or iaa). I like gel for cuts powder for transplant. If they don't root, I look to environment because that means the plants in there aren't at optimum, for me its either too cool or too dry.

One last thing is to leave them undisturbed to the extent possible, don't be moving the tray 5 times a day.

Since I shut off the clone cab with the heat mat, I've just put my cuts off to the side in the mom tent. I may be losing a day or two by removing the heat, but that can be accounted for in the planning stage.

Maybe make edibles instead of hash? Or use it as a practice run

I don't really care for edibles oddly enough but it's definitely a thought. Friends ask me to make them cannabutter all the time.... usually I ignore them lol

I'd imagine it is, but honestly it's pretty unusual in that the older trichs are cloudy but since the reveg it's been throwing out all clear ones again. Maybe I should give it a sample before I do anything else with it...

Right on brother! Love to hear the Gassy lemon is coming through. That's the flavor I select for in the Black Triangle f2 #19. The funky/vanilla/ tobacco must be a freak...in the best way! It will be fun if that comes through in the flavor.

The Kashmir male has the oniony thing going on. I can pick up on that scent in offspring from the Mazar/BT moms. The Black Triangle seems to dominate most of their offspring.

Super stoked your running these. I really appreciate it. Lots of fire from the other breeders gear you're growing. Nice gardens you keep.

Be well brother.

Yeah, my tents are too dry for clones 6 months a year lol. I probably should invest in a humidifier someday but that's money I could spend on seeds and lights so I keep avoiding it lol

In the meantime, I got a dome today so I'm gonna give that a go!

People around here seem to like dogs, and mine apparently doesn't want me to go take a bunch of cuttings right now, so yall get this picture instead of one of my snazzy new humidity dome all full of snips in my fresh new root riots.

He's not as cute as @Meatman newest family member but he sure has stinky dog breath.... you know I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but I'm now inspired to name a strain Stinky Dog Breath...
